Compressor Station

From 2021 to 2023, CMA Systems were under contract to carry out replacement of Control, Fire & Gas, SCADA and Telemetry Systems for a Compressor Station facility upgrade project.

The works were based on the configuration of the following systems:

• Station Control System (SCS)
• Station Fire & Gas (F&G) System, including EN54 fire panel
• Unit A/B/C Fire & Gas (F&G) System
• Site-wide SCADA System
• Telemetry System
• Level 3.5 Data-diode, DMZ, Firewalls & Syslog/SQL replication Server

Station Control System

The SCS system was based on Allen Bradley (Rockwell Automation) ControlLogix range of Process Automation Controllers (PAC). It was configured in a simplex arrangement; comprising processor, power supplies and communication modules. A local “EtherNet/IP” I/O communications network  inter-connect each I/O chassis’ to the CPU.

Fire & Gas (F&G) System

The  Fire & Gas (F&G) logic solvers for Compressor Units and Station systems are based on independent Det-tronics Eagle Quantum Premier (EQP) Logic Solver.  The logic solver is SIL2 certified and complies with various international codes and standards such as IEC-61508 & IEC-61511. 

Telemetry System

The Telemetry system is based upon a simplex Opto-22 SNAP PAC controller, with hardwired I/O. The Telemetry system shall interface with the SCS and SCADA system using point-to-point RS-485 Modbus serial communications.

CMA Systems specified all hardware. All site systems were seamlessly integrated into the new SCADA System.

We were able to provide a compliant and robust solution, given our deep understanding of certain standards and specifications as well as experience of delivering similar solutions at other Compressor Stations.
