In 2021, CMA Systems were awarded a contract to provide a control and safety system for a biogas producer to allow product entry into the gas distribution network.
The system ensures the quality of the biomethane entering the network meets the parameters outlined below. Should any parameter be out of specification the system will prevent entry to the network.
The function of the Biomethane Network Entry Facility (BNEF) system is to:
- Ensure that gas entering the distribution network complies with the Gas Safety Management Regulations (GSMR) via upstream instrumentation and meets the network entry agreement (NEA)
- Ensure that any non-compliant gas is rejected via interlocked diverter valves
- Pressure reduction for Network with back pressure regulation
- Pressure reduction for gas reject to Flare / AD tank with back pressure regulation
- Meter the gas to fiscal standards
- Compute a flow-weighted average calorific value (FWACV)
- Provide monitoring signals for the client, both hardwired and data link. The system also includes a dedicated remote operator station and for the inclusion of enhanced data logging, calculations for the user, HVOL’s, conversion rate and power usage
